Celebrations
Every Easter we hold an Easter Egg Hunt for the local daycares. The sound of young voices and the excitement of the hunt really helps to brighten the day for our residents and our staff.
We begin our National Nursing Home Week celebrations with a balloon launch where a local or state dignitary send 100 brilliantly colored balloons aloft and the Nursing Home Proclamation is read. Every day activities are held that are planned around the theme for the week. On Friday a staff appreciation luncheon is provided for all employees.
On Saturday prior to Mother’s Day Sunday the staff host a Mother’s Day Tea and the families of female residents are invited to come and participate in this. A short program is presented by staff, family members are asked to share memories about their mothers and refreshments are served. This is a very inspirational event and a special time.
During the Christmas Season the facility is decorated to the hilt with 15 Christmas trees. We invite visitors and families to come for tours of the facility and to view our decorations. The staff honor the residents with a party and each resident receives a gift from Santa provided for them by the staff. Santa is the highlight of the day and the residents love him–especially the ladies who want to sit in his lap.
